25 years as a technology entrepreneur, operating executive and venture capitalist, including Board Director positions at 7 public and 26 private companies. Former Managing Director & Partner at Wasserstein Perella, a leading Wall Street Private Equity & Leveraged Buyout firm and Partner at US Equity Partners L.P.
Opened Wasserstein Perella’s Silicon Valley VC office in Palo Alto and was head of its west coast technology investing. Led two dozen financings in Silicon Valley companies over a 12 year period.
Built several companies from prototype stage to high-value exit (M&A/IPO) and created over $1B of shareholder value. Led & syndicated 34 equity financings, raising over $250M VC/PE for portfolio companies and completed M&A deals exceeding $2B in value. Was IBM’s Managing Director of Technology Commercialization at World HQ. Launched IBM business spinouts from Watson Research Lab in sectors ranging from advanced materials to wireless, artificial intelligence, and natural language man-machine interfaces; some of these ramped to over $1B per year in revenue.
As a grad student at MIT, developed advanced inertial guidance systems for strategic missiles & spacecraft at Draper Laboratory. Attended Brown (BSEE), The Wharton School (MBA) and MIT (grad studies in aeronautical engineering). 23 patents awarded for seminal inventions in semiconductors and energy storage technologies.
Board positions have included Peregrine (Nasdaq:PSMI), Westinghouse Solar (Nasdaq WES), Triscend (XLNX), Sandcraft (NETL), SMaL Camera (CY), Hotrail (SWKS), Qusion (EMKR), Sensera (ASE:SE1), among 25 others. Served on Audit, Comp Committees, Board Chairman and Interim CEO.

MIT engineer and entrepreneur with over 30 years of company-building experience across the tech and life science sectors. Has a successful track record of building high-growth companies including founder of four companies (telemedicine company and others) and senior executive at seven early-stage companies (President of next-gen diagnostics platform company and others).
Raised many dozens of rounds of capital from angels, corporates and VC’s for his own companies and many others. Direct operating and management experience in all aspects of company building from R&D to sales, licensing and strategic partnerships including creative, non-dilutive financing deals built on licensing, R&D collaboration, and revenue opportunities.
Leader in Boston life science ecosystem including host of the GeneWorx Discovery Series, a bi-monthly live event featuring science, people and ideas from the leading edge of life science; organizer of SynBio Boston, the leading meetup group for synthetic biology enthusiasts in the world’s largest biotech hub; member of Technology Leadership Board at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital, and active in BosLab, a biohacker space in the “backyard” of MIT and Harvard; former member of MIT Enterprise Forum Startup Committee.
